【２年生】Whole Day English
Today was our biannual event at Eishin, called “Whole Day of English”. About 40 2nd grade students took part and they seemed to have a good time. Seven university students also joined the event and the Eishin students took turns interviewing them. Later, the university students teamed up with groups of Eishin students to make beautiful “galaxy” decorations. The teams also participated in an “Information Hunt” in which they read clues and walked around the school to find the answers to those clues. Winning teams got edible prizes! In the end, everyone enjoyed pizza and we took a group photograph. It was a fun and rewarding day.
7月19日（金）、Whole Day Englishを行いました。参加生徒は2年生約40名。福山大学に通う留学生7名にも来校していただき、日常の授業ではなかなかできない2つの活動をAll Englishで行いました。
「Treasure Hunting」
新校舎のどこかに隠された宝物を、各グループが留学生と一緒に見つける活動。マッカートニー先生とウェイド先生からの英語のヒントを頼りに、グループで校舎中を探索しました。いち早く宝を見つけたグループには、景品も。
「Craft Time ～What a beautiful universe～」
Galaxy Bottleというボトルに、綿や細かなラメを詰めて、絵の具で色をつけながら、オリジナルの宇宙ボトルを創っていく工作活動。各グループが英語で会話をしながら仲間と共に思い思いの小宇宙を創造していきました。全員がボトルを作り終えた後は留学生に投票を行ってもらい、最優秀ボトルが決定。
緊張して英語で話しかけることをためらっていた様子の生徒たちも、活動をしていく中で次第に留学生たちと打ち解け始めました。昼食にピザを食べる頃には、どのグループも盛り上がりを見せ、楽しみながらコミュニケーションをとっている姿が印象的でした。英語を使うことの喜びや楽しさを感じられた1日になったはずです。その気持ちを忘れず、夏休みを大切に過ごしてください。

I enjoyed today very much. I was happy to talk with exchange students. I ate pizza, made galaxy bottles and had a lot of fun!
It was a lot of fun today. I was glad to speak English with University students. English is very hard for me to speak, but I think that I want to learn English more!
I was very glad to join Whole Day English. I thought I will have to improve my English skills after I join this event.
Mike, a university student, was very kind. I couldn’t speak English well, but he understood my English. I thought that studying English is so important for me today.
